How to Know if a Regulator Rectifier is Defective?
You want to know if your regulator rectifier is defective? Here is a simple test you can do to find out!
Diode Test
- Put your multimeter to Diode.
- Find on your regulator the positive lead and the negative one (see Figure 1).
- Place the positive lead to the connector’s negative terminal.
- Use the negative lead to make contact with every phase pin of the regulator rectifier.
You should get a reading between 0.400 V and 0.600 V on every pin. If it is not the case, your regulator is not working properly.
- Put the positive lead of your meter to the connector’s positive terminal.
- Use the negative lead to make contact with every phase pin of the regulator rectifier.
You should see OL (Open Loop) for each pin. If not, your regulator is not working properly.
Mosfet Regulators
If you have a Mosfet regulator, the test is the same, but the reading range will change, it might be lower than 0.400 V. Simply keep in mind that all 3 phase pins have to give the same reading.
